Introduction:
Newport City Downtown Development (NCDD) is thrilled to announce a major milestone in their efforts to enhance the urban landscape of downtown Newport. Thanks to a generous grant from the Inflation Reduction Act through the U.S. Forest, NCDD has secured $363,000 to fund an ambitious urban forestry project. This grant will allow Newport to develop an innovative treescape design for Gardner Park and the Designated Downtown area, while also initiating the implementation of the plan.
This achievement is the result of dedicated volunteer work, with special recognition to Newport resident Stan Chop for his tremendous efforts. Together, we are excited to forge partnerships with the City of Newport and the wider community to transform our city into an even more vibrant and desirable place to live, work, and play.
Implementation and Collaboration:
Over the next 3 to 5 years, NCDD will work closely with the City of Newport and community members to design and implement the urban treescape plan. This endeavor will require active participation and input from residents who share the common goal of making downtown Newport an exceptional place to live, work, and play.
NCDD is committed to engaging the community and ensuring that their opinions and ideas are represented throughout the process. Together, we will shape the future of our city and create a green oasis that enhances the quality of life for all.
