Cup & Sage is expanding its yoga, sound and wellness offerings this fall at the former Here + North studio at 137 Main Street in Newport.
The transition is less about starting something new and more about building on what already exists. The teachers students know and the classes they have come to rely on will continue, while new offerings will provide additional opportunities for movement, mindfulness, sound healing and connection.
“This is an expansion,” said Kendall Lambert, owner of Cup & Sage. “There is already such a wonderful community here started by Heather Kincaid of Here + North, and I’m excited to honor what people love about the studio while creating more opportunities to explore yoga, sound and wellness together.”
This fall, the studio will continue offering Yin Yoga with Faye Tolar on Monday mornings and Vinyasa with Karen Hruby throughout the week. New Hatha Flow classes with Lambert will be added Tuesday and Saturday mornings.
The studio is also introducing two unconventional classes designed to bring more playfulness and freedom to the yoga experience: Alt Yoga and Haus Yoga.
Kayce Mae Klunder, a new teacher at the studio, is creating classes where yoga can be playful, a little weird and a little loud, without participants having to take themselves too seriously. Alt Yoga and Haus Yoga offer different moods but share the same invitation: move it out and let it go.
Both classes begin with music-driven dance movement before transitioning into a yoga practice. No dance experience or choreography is required. Alt Yoga takes a darker, more witchy and cathartic approach, while Haus Yoga takes a brighter, playful approach that combines dance-floor energy with yoga movement.
Sound will also become a more regular part of the studio experience, with Friday evening Sound Healing & Meditations with Lambert joining the schedule. The sessions use sound bowls, breath work and guided meditation to help participants release and relax. No previous experience is necessary.
Cup & Sage also plans to expand into workshops and other wellness activities. A massage pop-up is planned for Saturday, Sept. 19, with additional details to be announced.
The expansion reflects the evolution of Cup & Sage, which has grown from a product-based wellness and sound healing business started in 2022 into a broader community offering centered on yoga, sound, movement, wellness and connection.
“I think there’s something really special about having a place where you can come to move, breathe, be quiet, listen, connect, or just have a little fun,” Lambert said. “Wellness doesn’t have to look one particular way. Sometimes it’s Yin. Sometimes it’s sound healing. Sometimes it’s dancing around to loud music before getting on your yoga mat.”
The September schedule marks the beginning of the studio’s next chapter, with additional wellness offerings, collaborations and community events planned throughout the fall.
The Witches Brew Shop will also open in the same building at 137 Main Street on Sept. 1.
