Local Home Health Agency Named One of Vermont’s Best Places to Work for 2026

Some good news worth celebrating in the Northeast Kingdom: Orleans Essex VNA & Hospice has been named one of the Best Places to Work in Vermont for 2026.

The recognition was announced at a ceremony held April 2nd at the Doubletree Hotel in South Burlington, hosted by VermontBiz and the Vermont Chamber of Commerce. Among 41 businesses honored in the small-size business category (15–99 employees), OEVNA&H landed at number 22.

For an agency rooted right here in our community, that’s a genuine point of pride.

What Makes a Workplace “the Best”?

This isn’t a popularity contest or a self-nomination award. The Best Places to Work in Vermont program — running since 2006 — uses a two-part evaluation. About 20% of the score comes from a review of each company’s workplace policies, practices, and demographics. The other 80% comes directly from employees themselves, through an anonymous survey measuring their day-to-day experience on the job.

To even make the list this year, businesses had to demonstrate 93% or greater employee satisfaction. Not every company that entered made the cut.

In other words, the people who actually do the work are the ones who decide whether their employer earns the title. And the employees at OEVNA&H said yes.

A Culture Built on Compassion

For folks who’ve crossed paths with OEVNA&H — whether through a family member receiving home care, a hospice visit during a difficult time, or a neighbor who works there — the recognition probably doesn’t come as a surprise.

The agency has built its culture around the same values it brings to patients: compassion, teamwork, and respect. Employees get ongoing professional development, flexible scheduling, generous time off, competitive wages, and a leadership team that genuinely keeps an open-door policy.

“It is truly an honor for our agency to be recognized for the incredible team we have,” said Lyne Limoges, Executive Director of OEVNA&H. “We are proud to be part of such a caring community, where our employees are supported in doing what they love every day — providing compassionate care to our patients and their families.”

Serving the Northeast Kingdom Since 1969

OEVNA&H has been a fixture in our corner of Vermont for more than 55 years. Since 1969, the agency has provided nursing, rehabilitation, and personal care services to residents of Orleans County and northern Essex County — meeting people where they are, in the comfort of their own homes.

That’s no small thing in a rural region where getting to a hospital or clinic isn’t always easy. Home-based care lets neighbors heal, recover, and live with dignity in familiar surroundings, surrounded by family.

Why This Matters Locally

Good jobs matter everywhere, but they matter especially in small communities like ours. When an organization treats its employees well, that ripples outward — into better patient care, stronger families, and a healthier local economy. Healthcare workers who feel supported stick around. They build expertise. They become the familiar faces that make a hard moment a little easier.

Congratulations to the entire team at Orleans Essex VNA & Hospice. The recognition is well earned, and the community is lucky to have you.
