Economic Development Committee

The Mission of the Economic Task Force is to collaboratively seek local and regional opportunities for economic growth, provide adequate housing opportunities, grow local businesses, and generate new employment opportunities and tax revenue for the City of Newport.

We recognize the importance of collaboration between state and local government, local business, financial investors, city residents and property owners to promote an atmosphere conducive to smart economic growth. Smart economic growth is defined by thoughtfully identifying and targeting key business sectors that complement the fabric of our community, are beneficial to the residents, and create job opportunities.
