Eclipse Weather Watch

Stay ahead of the clouds – Expert insights and tips for clear eclipse viewing.

In Vermont, the eclipse’s path brings increasing cloud cover due to its northern trajectory and the region’s complex terrain, including the Appalachian Mountains and the Green Mountains. To maximize your chances of a clear view, closely monitor short-term weather forecasts. Remember, the effort to witness a total solar eclipse in perfect conditions is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will be unforgettable.

Eclipse Safety 101

Experience the 2024 Solar Eclipse Safely – Your Guide to Eye Protection.

To safely view the eclipse, it’s crucial to use special-purpose solar filters, like ISO 12312-2 compliant eclipse glasses. Ordinary sunglasses, even if very dark, are not adequate.

Within the path of totality, you can briefly view the eclipse without protection only when the Moon fully covers the Sun. Outside this path, never look directly at the Sun without proper solar filters. Always inspect these filters for damage before use and supervise children. Avoid using unfiltered cameras, telescopes, or binoculars to view the eclipse. For indirect viewing, try pinhole projection. Following these safety guidelines will ensure a memorable and safe eclipse experience.
