Catamount Arts Traveling Stage Hosts 17 Free NEK Concerts, opening in Newport July 6

Jun 6, 2022

A mobile stage secured by Catamount Arts in 2016 has quickly become such a summertime staple, the region’s premier full-service arts center had to get another one! This summer, the stage will bring six free shows to Newport’s Wednesdays on the Waterfront, three free shows to St. Johnsbury’s Final Fridays, and eight free shows to the Levitt AMP St. Johnsbury Music Series at Dog Mountain.

Newport’s Wednesdays on the Waterfront open July 6th with the NEK’s own Markus Daniels Band. July 13th brings the mystical music of the Andes with Zuko & the Gang, followed July 20th by Strange Purple Jelly’s funky soul-jazz. Power trio Rick Redington & the Luv play on July 27th, and then multi-genre masters the Mike Goudreau Band play August 3rd.

The series closes August 10th with Evansville Transit Authority’s blend of rock, country, and blues. Wednesdays on the Waterfront concerts take place from 6-8:30, at the Waterfront Gazebo on Main Street in Newport.

The Levitt AMP St. Johnsbury Music Series returns this year with eight shows at Dog Mountain and three shows on Railroad Street. Three Railroad Street shows take place on the last Friday of June, July, and August as part of Final Fridays. All other Levitt AMP St. Johnsbury Music Series shows take place Sundays, July 10th through August 28th, at Dog Mountain.

On Friday, June 24th, enjoy Vermont’s Deadhead-in-Chief Zach Nugent on Railroad Street in St. Johnsbury. Friday, July 29th, also on Railroad Street, catch folk rock superstars the Adam Ezra Group, and then come back Friday, August 26th, for alt-rockers Fox Royale. St. Johnsbury’s Railroad Street shows take place at 7pm following Final Fridays festivities (formerly #GetDownTown), which begin at 4.

Sunday 5pm shows at Dog Mountain (yes, dogs are welcome!) begin July 10th with funk-popsters Melt, followed by the raucous Albannach of Scotland on July 17th, and then R&B heartthrobs Juice, on July 24th. Enjoy the pure American rock goodness of Jocelyn & Chris on July 31st, and then Terrance Simien & the Zydeco Experience on August 7th, followed by blues powerhouse Hannah Wicklund on August 14th, her last US show before joining Greta Van Fleet’s tour. Enjoy Haitian funk and reggae from Vox Sambou on August 21st and then, finally, the velvety vocals of Moorea Masa & the Moon, on August 28th.
