This itinerary offers a variety of activities for families of all ages, ensuring a memorable trip to Newport, Vermont.
Day 1: Northern Star Cruises and Books
Morning: Start your morning at the Goodrich Memorial Library. Browse the shelves and exhibits, enjoy story or craft time sessions (if available), or simply walk around and take in the beauty of this historic building. If buying books is your thing, then check out our local second-hand bookstore, Nevermore! You’ll get lost in the collection of stories!
Afternoon: After perusing the library, head down the hill to the city docks and take a cruise on The Northern Star. Enjoy stunning views of Lake Memphremagog and the surrounding mountains, and even cruise into Canada!
Evening: Grab dinner at the family-friendly Hoagies and walk to catch a movie at City Cinema. Choose from a variety of family-friendly films.
Day 2: Eastside Exploration and Prouty Beach
Morning: Take a leisurely walk along the trail at Bluffside. Enjoy the beautiful views of Lake Memphremagog and the surrounding countryside. Explore the Eastside neighborhood. Visit the shops and galleries, or simply stroll along the lakefront.
Afternoon: Have lunch at The Eastside Restaurant. It sits right on the lake, offering wonderful views all year round. After lunch, visit the shops and bakery to buy some goodies to go!
Evening: Spend the evening at Prouty Beach. Play in the sand, swim in the lake, or simply relax and enjoy the sunset.
Day 3: Tim and Doug’s and More
Morning: Start your day with a hearty breakfast at The Brown Cow. Enjoy their famous pancakes or a delicious omelet.
Afternoon: Spend the afternoon exploring more of Newport and Gardner Park for more outdoor activities. End your day at Tim and Doug’s Ice Cream for the best maple creemees!
