Hiking and Walking

Memphremagog Greenway: Enjoy a stretch of recreational path that takes you from downtown Newport all the way to the Canadian border. Whether you want to walk leisurely, run, or walk your dog, this path is for everyone! 

Eagle Point: Part of the Vermont Land Trust, Eagle Point has trails along the Canadian border where bird watching is plentiful. Explore these easy trails to see a variety of wildlife.

Biking and Boating

Rent a bike: Rent a bike from the Great Outdoors or Gardner Park to cruise around town! There are options, whether it’s an electric bike or a cruising bike! Explore the scenic backroads of Newport and the surrounding area.

Mountain biking: Memphremagog Trails is made up of accessible mountain biking trails with stunning views of the lake

Sailing the lake: Reach out to the Newport Community Sailing Center to rent a sail boat or learn how to sail! 

Family-friendly: Check out the rental Shack at Gardner Park to rent a paddleboat for the whole family. Cruise around the South Bay and enjoy the day!

Fishing and Swimming

Clyde River and more: Try fishing in Lake Memphremagog or one of the nearby rivers. Rent a boat or cast from the shore and see what you can catch. Trout is known to be a good catch up here!

Take a dip: Cool off with a swim at Prouty Beach. Enjoy the sun, sand, and water activities.

Camping and Stargazing

On the lake: Pack your camping gear and head to Prouty Beach Campgrounds for RV or tent sites! Camp right on the lake with stunning views and the fresh lake breeze.
