We’re thrilled to announce that Newport Downtown Development (NDD) has been awarded a $112,000 grant from the state to launch an exciting new program: a network of mobile vendor carts along Main Street. This transformative project is designed to enhance our bustling downtown scene, attract more cross-border shoppers, and encourage longer visits near Lake Memphremagog.
The state grant will help us:
Construct Custom Vending Carts: Specially designed carts will be available for local entrepreneurs to showcase their products, from artisanal goods to delicious treats.
Launch a Targeted Marketing Campaign: We’ll focus on promoting the carts to out-of-state visitors and our Canadian neighbors, ensuring that everyone knows the unique experiences awaiting them in Downtown Newport.
This project is one of 16 funded through Governor Phil Scott’s Transformational Tourism, Events, and Regional Marketing Grant Program. We’re proud to be part of a statewide effort to boost local businesses and bring more visitors to Vermont.
Through this grant program, the state aims to attract out-of-state visitors and increase overnight stays, ensuring that local communities like ours thrive.
Local entrepreneurs will receive:
Mobile Carts and Secure Storage: Participants will have access to convenient storage in the Tasting Center, ensuring their carts and supplies remain safe.
City Permits Provided: We’ll help simplify the permitting process, so vendors can focus on what matters most—building their business.
Flexible Operation Schedules: Vendors must commit to operating at least three times weekly during evenings and weekends, capitalizing on peak visitation hours.
Free Promotion and Marketing: NDD will actively promote vendor offerings through various channels, from social media to print and local news.
First Month Free: We understand that starting a new venture can be challenging, so we’re offering the first month of cart usage at no cost.
Low Monthly Rent: After the first month, usage fees will be just $50 per month through April 2025.
