Gateway Center Newport VT

The Gateway Center is the beacon of Newport's crown jewel - our beloved waterfront.  stroll the waterfront boardwalk and you'll finish at the Newport City Dock's Gateway Center - a handicap accessible facility available to rent for weddings, birthday parties and corporate functions.  You can also rent paddle boats and kayaks in season.  The Gateway has seating for 88 on the first floor and 70 on the second floor.  For rates and availability, contact the Recreation office at 802-334-6345

A tradition of learning and imagining since 1868, The Goodrich Memorial Library envelopes you in its stunning woodwork, cozy fireplaced nooks and crannies, and the impressive staircase.  You'll be drawn back in time with the grandeur and friendly access of books to peruse, computers to use and events happening for locals and out-of-town visitors as well.  The first library, established in the town of Newport, was originated by Dr. John M. Currier in the spring of 1862.

The MAC Center for the Arts  began with a small group of artists with our first space opening in 2007. Since then it has grown and become an integral part of Newport’s downtown as a vital destination for visual and performance art.

The Center's gallery offers the works of about 40 local artists for exhibit and sale. The works include fine art, photographs, pottery, fiber arts, jewelry, woodworking, folk art, cards, and more.

St. Mary's Star of the Sea

St. Mary's Star of the Sea Newport VT

Resting at the highest point of the peninsula of Newport, St. Mary Star of the Sea with its twin spires, gold crosses and statue of the Virgin Mary was formally dedicated August 1, 1909.  Fr. Clermont acquired several parcels of land on Prospect Street. On one he built a wood-frame parish hall. This building later became the Sacred Heart School and Convent.
