For Private Boat Owners: There are new regulations making it easier to cross the border by boat; Click Here. Know Before You Go ... click here for info regarding crossing into Canada and click here for info for US citizens regarding returning back to US. Remember that if you plan to cross the border you'll need your passport/passport card/Nexus card or enhanced driver's license (EDL). The border-crossing check-in going into Canada is on the west/port/left side of the lake heading north. It's a phone to use to call in to Canadian authorities with your passport/EDL information. Upon return into US, you must check-in at the Newport City Dock using the video-phone attached to Harbor Master's Building next to gas pumps. Keep in mind that border patrol authorities are on the lake and will stop you if you don't check-in. It's a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the entire international Lake Memphremagog ... see the St Benoit du Lac from the lake... dock at Magog's port at the northern end of the lake... and return to enjoy a walkable downtown Newport Vermont.
