Former Moonlight Lady Cruise Boat From Lake Champlain Making
Monumental Move To Lake Memphremagog In Newport, Vermont
NEWPORT, VT September 26, 2012 The former Moonlight Lady overnight cruise boat that has operated on Lake Champlain by Green Mountain Boat Lines for the last 3 years is making a new home in the city of Newport, Vermont on Lake Memphremagog. Because of Lake Memphremagog’s unique land locked location, the boat will require the upper decks, wheel house and other structures removed in order to be trucked approximately 75 miles to Newport this November. After this monumental move, it will be lowered back in the water, reassembled and begin taking passengers on sightseeing, dinner, private charters and Canadian destination cruises (over 2/3 of the lake is in Canada) in the spring of 2013.
The boat will be fully inspected by the United States Coast Guard and able to take 49 passengers plus crew. It will offer sightseeing, luncheon, dinner, and educational cruises plus many different themed cruises and specially designed Canadian destination cruises to Owls Head Resort, Georgeville and Magog Quebec.
The boat will be renamed “The Northern Star”
With the development of Newport’s waterfront, incoming international businesses, and the ongoing development at Jay Peak Resort The Northern Star anticipates being a value added attraction and focal point of Newport’s waterfront.
The projected time line is for the vessel to be delivered to Newport by mid November of 2012 and ready to cruise Lake Memphremagog no later than May 1, 2013.
